Getting Started With an Autism Evaluation at FEATS.

A guide to how our partnership with AT4K gets your child evaluated without the months-long wait.

FEATS offers autism evaluations for families in Greater Cleveland through our partnership with AT4K Autism Testing for Kids. You work with us from start to finish — we coordinate the process, and AT4K's licensed psychologist conducts the evaluation itself, virtually, so your family isn't stuck waiting months for a local appointment. Neither one is as complicated as it sounds, and our team can walk you through it.

Step 1: Request an evaluation through FEATS

This starts with a conversation with us, not with paperwork.

Contact FEATS to get started. We'll explain how the evaluation works and what to expect before you decide whether to move forward.
We'll help you understand the current scheduling timeline and what you'll need to complete before the evaluation begins.
Once you're ready, we'll get you connected with AT4K to schedule.

Step 2: Complete the evaluation

We stay involved, but the clinical work is AT4K's licensed psychologist.

You'll share information about your child's development and the concerns you've been seeing — video of your child at home may be part of this.
A licensed psychologist reviews that information and meets with your family by video to assess your child.
The psychologist explains the findings, answers your questions, and provides a written report.
The psychologist — not FEATS — is the one who determines whether an autism diagnosis is appropriate. If an in-person assessment turns out to be needed for a sound conclusion, that will be part of the conversation.
In Ohio, evaluations through this partnership, including the report, are generally completed in less than 30 days. We'll help you check the current timeline for your family.

Step 3: Review the results with FEATS

Once you have the report, we're here to help you figure out what's next.

Share the report with us, and we'll talk through what it means for your child's services and options at FEATS.
You're also welcome to share it with your pediatrician, school district, or any other provider — the report is yours to use where it helps most.
Having a report doesn't automatically qualify your child for ABA, a specific school placement, or the Ohio Autism Scholarship. Each of those has its own separate requirements, and we can help you understand what's next for each.

A few things worth knowing

The evaluation is self-pay. We'll help you confirm the current fee and what it includes, and you can ask your insurance plan whether it offers any out-of-network reimbursement.
A diagnosis isn't the only path to support. Families with children under three can contact Ohio Early Intervention, and families with older children can request an educational evaluation through their school district — some services, like speech support, don't require an autism diagnosis at all. We're happy to talk through those options too, even before or instead of an evaluation.
